Missing teeth impact not only your self-esteem but your health as well. It's natural for our bones and teeth to weaken as we age, and other factors can contribute to losing a tooth here and there, but missing teeth should never be neglected.

Our denture prosthetics are removable devices made of false teeth that replace the gaps the in your smile. They're made of high-grade material that lasts several decades and can help you regain your confidence and independence.

Types of dentures

We provide two types of dentures to help meet your needs:

  • Complete dentures replace the top or bottom rows of teeth. These are best used for cases where most or all of the teeth are missing, such as from disease or decay.
  • Partial dentures are a group of false teeth that attach to your natural teeth with a metal framework. They are typically used when you still have several natural teeth remaining and only a few gaps.

Receiving dentures

The decision to get dentures is not one to take likely. We ensure a proper consultation, diagnosis and assessment are done with each patient before recommending your treatment. We want you to thrive, but that means ensuring we follow all the necessary steps to improve your oral health.

To receive dentures, we first need to prepare your teeth. Our friendly dentist will take X-rays and impressions of your teeth to ensure the proper fit of your dentures. These are used to create a mould that will be transformed into your final denture set.

The entire process can take up to a few sessions but will be well worth the wait. At your final appointment, we'll fit your dentures and make adjustments. With your final set in place, you will be free to smile, laugh and live life to the fullest again.

Your new dentures may initially feel strange as they settle into your mouth. In addition, you may experience some extra saliva and irritation as your mouth and tongue learn to adjust, but this will improve over time.

Caring for dentures

Part of having dentures is ensuring they are well cared for so they last. With proper care, your dentures can last for several years.

It's best to follow these tips when looking after your dentures:

  • Avoid using regular toothpaste and mouthwash to clean your dentures.
  • Use a soft-bristled brush and denture cleaner to brush them daily.
  • Soak your dentures in a denture-soaking solution when you are not wearing them.
  • Ensure that you don't drop your dentures.
  • Never let your dentures dry - they must always stay moist.
