Everyone deserves to have a smile they are proud to show off, regardless of what they have experienced. At Winelands Dentistry, we offer long-term solutions to fill the gaps in your smile. One such solution is a dental bridge.

When bridges are used

Dental bridges are a group of 1 or more false teeth connected to your natural teeth through crowns or a metal framework. They have various uses beyond filling the gaps in your smile, such as:

  • Boosting self-esteem and confidence
  • Improving bite function
  • Alleviating jaw pain

Types of bridges

Dental bridges come in various forms to help cater to different patient cases. We offer numerous options at our practices, including:

  • Traditional bridge — connected by dental crowns on the adjacent natural teeth.
  • Cantilever bridge — connected by only one dental crown at the back of the mouth.
  • Maryland bridge — connected to the adjacent natural teeth with metal wings.

Receiving a bridge

If you have gaps in your smile, we may recommend receiving a dental bridge to fill the space. We do this by preparing the adjacent natural teeth with dental crowns or metal wings attached to the back.

Next, we take several impressions of the surrounding teeth and bite to ensure that your dental bridge perfectly matches your smile. We then send the impressions to a dental laboratory that specialises in dental prosthetics and fit a temporary bridge in the meantime.

Your final bridge will be adjusted and fitted in your follow-up appointment, where we will assess how well the bridge feels and looks. Our bridges are all made from either ceramic porcelain or composite resin to ensure durability and functionality while keeping your smile looking stunning.

Once we have made all the necessary checks and adjustments, we will bond the bridge to the crowns or metal wing and you will be able to continue your day as usual.
